Lamps containing mercury are safe to operate when properly used. If a lamp does break, it can contain mercury vapor that can leach into the ground and into the air that can pose a health risk.
It is the user of the lamp to comply with federal, state, and local regulations as regulations change frequently. Please seek council for the most update to lamp disposal requirements.

States across the U.S. continue to move forward with legislation to phase out fluorescent lighting due to environmental concerns, particularly mercury content. While there is no Federal legislation for Mercury containing lamps, States across the country are introducing legislation to phase out fluorescent lighting. Once the go-to choice for homes, offices, and public spaces, fluorescent bulbs are now being banned, as state governments prioritize sustainability and safety. This legislative shift promises to transform the way we light our world.
As a side effect of this legislation, it encourages the adoption of LED, which is free of mercury, last longer, and consumes significantly less energy. SATCO offers one of the most extensive product ranges in the industry of LED replacements for CFL and fluorescent lamps.
Don't worry, pin based CFL and linear fluorescent lamps are not banned everywhere and SATCO will continue to supply this proven technology to those that are still relying on these dependable and durable light sources.
Please note, due to significant decline in the volume of integrated CFL (screw in and GU24 spiral lamps), this product group was phased out in the beginning in 2025 and will continue to be sold until inventories are depleted.
